The challenge

A new firm that needed to look established on day one.

Sena Law is a Vancouver practice focused on family law and alternative dispute resolution, calm, careful work for people in hard moments. Co-founders Kelsey Beazer and Samantha Simpson needed a website that carried that tone: warm and human, not the cold-marble cliché of a law firm site.

It also had to feel established from the first visit, give them a place to publish their own thinking over time, and be something they could own and update without depending on anyone.

The approach

Build it for real, then show it.

Rather than pitch a mock-up, I built the real site first and showed it live, signed after. The founders saw exactly what they were getting, in their own brand, before committing.

1. A brand of their own, ocean-teal, rust, and cream, with Zilla Slab and Plus Jakarta Sans type.
2. Photography that fits, BC-landscape imagery, warm and grounded, not stock-firm marble.
3. Built first, shown live, the real site, on the real stack, before any contract.
4. Hand over the keys, a self-publishing Decap CMS for their News & Insights.
